Working Responsibly

At Microsoft we believe the way we work affects all our stakeholders, including our customers, employees, suppliers and shareholders – as well as their communities. Furthermore, these values also need to apply to the thousands of suppliers and partners we work with worldwide.
To ensure this, we follow stringent standards for Citizenship reporting, including the Global Reporting Initiative and Carbon Disclosure Project. These are just some of the key areas covered by our commitment to responsible and diligent Citizenship Reporting.

  • Environmental Responsibility – Microsoft either meets or exceeds a wide range of verified global standards, not least in sustainability, responsible sourcing.
  • Carbon Reduction – In 2012, Microsoft embarked on a challenging carbon reduction strategy that saw us achieve global carbon neutrality less than two years later – one of only a handful of global technology companies to do so.
  • Engagement & Partnership – We actively seek input on social, economic and environmental issues with key stakeholders, investors, NGOs and issue-advocacy organizations, as well as partnering with organisations like the World Economic Forum and the Clinton Global Initiative to better respond to key issues affecting our business.
