Councillor Nick Forbes, Leader of Newcastle City Council, explains how our cities need to be shaped and why that involves diverse groups of people in influencing decisions

According to Councillor Nick Forbes, Leader of Newcastle City Council, there’s no escaping the fact that cities represent the best of our societies, the pinnacles of our cultural, academic and sporting achievements, but they also represent some of our greatest challenges around environmental protection, caring for people and employment opportunities.

In this video, Forbes explains how Newcastle City Futures provides an opportunity to consider how our cities need to be shaped and why that involves diverse groups of people in influencing decisions. He also discusses how the project in the city – you can read more on it here – ensured that people were involved and engaged in the project so that they felt a part of the future.
