Stone to supply 6,200 Windows 10 devices to PHE as it undertakes a significant technology refresh
Stone Group, the ICT solutions provider for the public sector, has today announced that it has been awarded a tender to supply Public Health England (PHE) with 6,200 Toshiba and Lenovo devices as it replaces its existing Windows 7 devices.
The tender, procured through Crown Commercial Services (CCS) Technology Products 2 Agreement (RM3733), will see the executive agency of the Department of Health and Social Care migrate its 5,500 staff to Windows 10 devices, well ahead of the end of support for its current Windows 7 devices in January 2020.
Using its Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) solution, Stone will securely pre-configure every device at its manufacturing facility in Stafford with the image, apps and drivers that PHE’s users require, prior to delivery; ensuring fast and seamless deployment to all PHE locations in the UK.
Simon Pettit, Corporate Director at Stone Group comments: “We are thrilled to have been selected to support PHE with its technology refresh. This tender represents a significant device roll out for PHE, as a result it was clear from the start that they required a seamless deployment to ensure that there was little disruption to the important work of PHE’s staff.
Pettit continues, “As one of the only UK-based IT solutions providers for the public sector with its own manufacturing facility on site, Stone has proven experience in delivering large-scale device roll outs that are ready to go straight out of the box on delivery. This means we are very well placed to help PHE transition to the new Windows 10 devices seamlessly. For PHE, this was a real game changer, and eased their decision to choose Stone as their preferred supplier.”
