Key government minister to deliver opening address at ShareDigital event

The UK’s digital and culture minister is set to deliver the opening address at a leading public sector digital services event

Matt Hancock, Minister of State for Digital and Culture, will address the ShareDigital’18 conference, which takes place on Thursday 8 March in London.

ShareDigital is the annual meeting for all those involved in local authority digital initiatives and rethinking how public services can be better delivered.

Hosted by Socitm, the body representing IT and digital professionals across the public sector, the event encourages attendees to link-up with their peers, learn from one another’s experiences and discuss the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

The gathering, organised by Enterprise Events, is centred around roundtable discussion groups, giving delegates a real opportunity to learn and connect with like minded people in a friendly, open way.

Framing the roundtable sessions are a number of presentations and discussions covering topics as diverse as:

  • The barriers to digital transformation
  • Driving innovation though communication
  • Cultivating digital leadership
  • The use of AI to improve social services
  • Driving culture change to embrace new digital ways of working
  • Digital apprenticeships – addressing the digital skills gap and paving the way for transforming public services

Joining Mr Hancock at the conference will be numerous local government IT and digital experts including Theo Blackwell, Chief Digital Officer for London; Matt Prosser, Chief Executive of Dorset Councils Partnership and Solace spokesperson for digital leadership; and Geoff Connell, Socitm President and Head of Information Management and Technology at Norfolk County Council.

Geoff Connell, Socitm President, said: “ShareDigital is regarded as a key date in the public sector calendar. It tackles some of the most important and pressing issues around digital transformation in local government. For this latest instalment of the conference we are delighted to welcome Matt Hancock MP and our other high profile speakers who will be fantastic additions to the programme and will add a great deal to the discussions.”

The day runs from 9.30am to 4.45pm, includes lunch and is held in Church House, next to Westminster Abbey in central London.

All those now booking places for ShareDigital’18 can register three delegates for the price of just two. More details about the event can be found at www.sharedigital.net.
