Luton signs extended deal with Civica

New ITO contract will support the council’s drive to transform digitally

Luton Borough Council has extended its strategic partnership with Civica through a new ITO contract that will support the council’s drive to transform digitally and deliver continuously improved services for residents.

The partnership will support Luton as it delivers a £1.5 billion investment framework package into the borough and includes the provision of flexible and mobile working solutions to support agile working by Luton Borough Council employees.

It also supports Luton’s strategy to utilise cloud computing in order to reduce costs as well as improve productivity and efficiency. The infrastructure delivered by the contract will also help Luton’s growth plans by providing a foundation for Luton Traded Services (LTS), its commercial organisation. LTS delivers a wide portfolio of services such as pest control, passenger transport and building maintenance across both the public and private sectors.

The contract extension builds upon the previous success the two organisations saw with ‘Project Genesis’, where Civica delivered all core ICT operations for the council in order to achieve savings and enhance services including ICT-based innovation to change access to and use of local services. The existing service will now be extended to include a unified communications system and IT asset management, as well as updates, hardware repair and disaster recovery. Civica will also be managing all related third-party relationships on Luton’s behalf.

“Civica will deliver the IT services and flexible infrastructure required for us to achieve our digital ambition to revolutionise the way that residents access services. More of our offerings will now be automated and available 24/7 online, allowing for rapid self-service. And everything is secure by design so we and our users can do so with complete peace of mind.”
