NHS England advertises for director of digital experience

NHS England is looking to recruit a director of digital experience who will be responsible for driving forward the NHS digital product roadmap

NHS England is looking to recruit a director of digital experience who will be responsible for driving forward “the NHS digital product roadmap with measurable results, based on enhanced patient outcomes, product engagement from users and tangible efficiency benefits”.

The director will be “a key senior leader”, according to the job description, and will report to the chief information and technology officer (CI&TO) – once that role is filled.

NHS England started its search for a CI&TO earlier this year following the departure of former national director of patients and information, Tim Kelsey.

As well as driving the digital roadmap, the new director will also have to identify services across the entire NHS where digital systems could “dramatically improve patient outcomes”.

The job ad for the position said: “To succeed, you’ll need to have demonstrable and very significant senior commercial experience and knowledge in the deployment of digital technologies and channels to yield major cost improvements and enhanced end user outcomes.”

NHS England says it also requires the new director to work closely with other organisations, such as the Department of Health, the Government Digital Service (GDS) and the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) – soon to be renamed NHS Digital.

The role, which is based in London, offers a salary from £131,000 per annum. The full job description can be found here.
