The Government Digital Service, Crown Commercial Service and  techUK are currently visiting seven UK cities in a bid to introduce people to the Digital Marketplace, outlining the opportunities it presents for both public sector buyers and suppliers looking to sell.

The Digital Marketplace is currently helping those changing the public services by making it “simpler, clearer and faster for them to buy what they need“. It can also be used to discover both cloud technology and people to work with on digital projects, such as technical architects.

On Thursday 27th August there will be an event for suppliers at The Toffee Factory in Newcastle, where regional businesses will be able to learn about imminent developments of the Digital Marketplace, including information on the changes planned for G-Cloud-7 and the remodelling of the Digital Services Framework.

Naureen Khan, Associate Director – Central Government, at techUK, said: “To meet the government’s commitment to open up the public sector market to a wider supply base and deliver on Matthew Hancock’s vision of a tech-savvy civil service that is using the best and most innovative technology, it’s vital that both buyers and suppliers around the UK have the opportunity to come together to learn about the best way to buy and sell using the Digital Marketplace.

Technology has the potential to simplify government processes and make iterative improvements, to deliver the necessary wholesale transformation of our public services.

We are delighted to be working with Government and promoting opportunities for tech companies based in Newcastle.”
