Edinburgh Council signs IT outsourcing and digital services contract with CGI

The City of Edinburgh Council has secured a seven-year IT outsourcing contract with information technology services company CGI in order to help the local authority modernise its services.

The City of Edinburgh Council has secured a seven-year IT outsourcing contract with information technology services company CGI  in order to help the local authority modernise its services.

The contract, worth £186m, will involve CGI developing the council’s IT systems and introducing “integrated digital services“. It also hopes to improve broadband speeds in schools and implement a new enterprise resource planning system.

The council signed a deal with BT for ICT services in 2001; however the contract is due to expire in March next year.

Councillor Alasdair Rankin, convener of the City of Edinburgh Council’s finance and resources committee, said of the new deal: “The council is delighted to be entering into partnership with CGI. In signing this contract we will transform the way we do business.”
