Matt Hancock, Minister for the Cabinet Office, has written a post for the Government Digital Service (GDS) blog showing his support for what the service is doing.

Within the post, Hancock asserts that he is a “huge supporter” of the GDS’s mission and those working towards it, and points out the way in which the service is transforming how the government works.

He said: “GDS is the digital core of government and it’s helping the public sector deliver better digital services for less – essentially making sure that the government ‘can do’ digital.”

He added: “The work that GDS is doing, and the vision of Government as a Platform, is changing the core infrastructure of shared digital systems, technology and processes.

However, Hancock also acknowledged that there is still more work to be done in order to implement “modern digital, technology and data” through the whole government.

Hancock went on to praise Mike Bracken for his leadership and vision with the GDS, and acknowledged Stephen Foreshew-Cain’s “wealth of experience delivering digital projects“.  Foreshew-Cain is currently the COO of GDS and will be stepping up as Executive Director.
