A new agreement for Network Services is expected to deliver savings in excess of £50 million across government and the wider public sector.
The new arrangement will provide simplified access to network and telecommunications services for the public sector, as it replaces the existing PSN Services, PSN Connectivity and Telephony Services agreements and could save up to £50 million for the sector.
The Crown Commercial Service says the deal was developed with “significant customer and supplier engagement” to ensure that the outcome provides choice for customers including direct award through an online catalogue and further competition.
The department says that nearly a third of the suppliers are small and medium sizes businesses and over 20% of that total are new to government agreements as the public sector market opens up to new suppliers and increased competition, which is hoped to improve the services available.
The new agreement is set to be available by early August with further details published in the near future.
