Population screening content moves to gov.uk

Public Health England’s population screening information and resources have been integrated to gov.uk, so that it now contains content covering the national screening programmes.

The new website will hold information from the UK National Screening Committee, which offers antenatal, newborn, young person and adult screening, with cancer screening set to be added in the next few months.

Content that has been moved from the old UK screening portal and NHS screening programme websites includes: information on the role and function of the UK NSC, information on population screening and quality assurance, relevant to all programmes and specific information about each of the screening programmes such as standards, data collection and operational details.

Dr Anne Mackie, director of the new PHE screening division commented: “Over the last few years GOV.UK has become the trusted home of information on all government services and I’m delighted that our screening content is now accessible alongside the other content already available from Public Health England.

We’ve worked hard over the last 2 years to really listen to what our users said they liked – and didn’t like – about our old websites and have developed new content that they should find more useful than ever before.

Importantly, GOV.UK will for the first time provide a one stop shop covering both the cancer and non-cancer screening programmes, making it easier for public health professionals to quickly find what they need to do their jobs.”
