Superfast broadband could bring £500m to Aberdeen economy

Digital chiefs have claimed that making Aberdeen one of Europe’s best-connected cities could generate around £500 million for the economy.

Digital chiefs have claimed that making Aberdeen one of Europe’s best-connected cities could generate around £500 million for the economy.

The superfast broadband plan is well underway, which is set to benefit over 6,000 organisations. The plan, according to the experts, could make Granite City the better place to do business.

Malcolm Corbett, boss of Independent Networks Co-operative Association, spoke ahead of a conference backed by the city council and Scottish Government. He said: “The broad numbers are not difficult to estimate. Using the impact study’s yardstick could generate a potential economic benefit of around £500m for Aberdeen over the life of the full deployment.”
