Kent Connects, a partnership of public services across the county, has been working with local colleges, universities and digital groups to uncover how technology can help people make the best use of public spaces.
Over 120 ideas have been submitted to its “Transformed by You” competition, which hopes to find innovative solutions to help people improve where they live and will provide up to £20K worth of support to help bring them to fruition.
To develop these ideas into viable solutions, developers, designers, makers and interested individuals are invited to the competition’s “hack day”, taking place at the University of Kent on Saturday 29th November.
Head of Kent Connects, Carol Patrick, said: “In the context of the huge challenges facing public services and society today, finding radical and effective ways of meeting social need is vital. The event seeks to bring local services and communities together to find practical ways to unlock the energy, enthusiasm and vast potential for innovation amongst communities, local groups, technology entrepreneurs and the frontline of public services. We hope that this year’s winning idea, together with many of the other brilliant suggestions will come to fruition.”
