A series of regional roadshows aimed to educate buyers and suppliers about the benefits of cloud computing and the G-Cloud Framework concluded in London this week.
Organised by Skyscape Cloud Services, roadshows have already taken place in Edinburgh, Bristol and Manchester over the past fortnight, with informative, supplier agnostic sessions aiming to educate and dispel some of the myths surrounding both cloud computing and the G-Cloud programme ahead of the imminent G-Cloud 6 tender.
More than 40 supplier organisations have attended the sessions and almost 40 public sector organisations were represented at the roadshows, spanning local councils and authorities as well as central Government departments. Guest speakers from the Scottish Government, DVLA, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HMRC shared their experiences of the digital transformation that has taken place within their organisations through the adoption of new technologies such as the cloud, with advice for buyers and suppliers regarding the benefits and challenges.
Andy Ward, Lead Innovation Architect at HMRC commented:
“Market events facilitate an open and honest dialogue between Government and suppliers where we can share mutual successes and challenges. They stimulate a mature debate, and real ‘open’ innovation with the involvement of whole market – including smaller businesses. These events must be focussed and outcome based, ensuring they are not just talking shops.”
