Who are the top women in UK IT?

BCS Past President Professor Dame Wendy Hall, Dean of Physical and Applied Sciences at the University of Southampton, has been named as the most influential woman in UK IT in the Computer Weekly awards.

BCS Past President Professor Dame Wendy Hall, Dean of Physical and Applied Sciences at the University of Southampton, has been named as the most influential woman in UK IT in the Computer Weekly awards.

The aim of compiling the annual list of the top 25 women in UK IT is to focus on the role of women in IT, to recognise the most influential role models and to discuss the vital part that female IT leaders will play in the UK’s high-tech economy.

Dame Wendy is listed as number one in the top 25 women who have had a major impact on UK IT. Other BCS members featured in the list include:

  • Dame Stephanie Shirley, Philanthropist, First Woman Past President of BCS and Past Master of WCIT
  • Dr Sue Black, Founder and CEO, Savvify “Engage Enlighten Inspire”
  • Rebecca George, Partner, Deliotte
  • Christina Scott, CIO, FT
  • Hannah Dee, Lecturer, Aberystwyth University
  • Gillian Arnold, Chair of BCSWomen and Director Tectre
  • Debbie Forster, UK managing director, Apps for Good
  • Christine Ashton, SVP technology, Thomson Reuters

Anne-Marie Imafidon, Assistant Vice President at Deutsche Bank and Founder & Head Stemette of Stemettes, was named as one of five rising stars

The list was selected by a judging panel of employers and IT leaders from across industry, along with Computer Weekly readers.
