Honours list celebrates digital pioneers

Digital transformers were well-represented on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List this year, with six OBEs and a CBE awarded to the some of the industry’s brightest stars.

Digital transformers were well-represented on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List this year, with six OBEs and a CBE awarded to the some of the industry’s brightest stars.

Jaya Chakrabarti Gallemore, CEO of Nameless and Anthony Singleton, COO of The Government’s Digital Service, were recognised for services to the Creative Digital Industries and Digital Public Services, respectively. David Thomas, of the Crown Prosecution Services was also awarded an OBE for “services to Law and Order, particularly Digital Transformation.”

At HM Revenue and Customs, Michael Brook, David Moore and Sean Smith received OBEs for using their field to better service tax work (Brook), taxpayers and disability groups (Moore), and people with disabilities (Smith). All three are innovators in the digital space. Other honourees in the wider digital government community included Jilian Matherson, Chief Executive of the UK Statistics Authority and Amyas Morse, the National Audit Office’s Comptroller and Auditor General. Both were awarded the Order of the Bath.

Honours were also extended to Professor Dominic Tildesley, Chair of the E-infrastructure Leadership Council, who was awarded a CBE for services to Science, Technology and Business.
