An event to respond to a growing demand in European industry to improve the quality of e-leadership is being held at the Henley Business School, University of Reading, on 3 June, organised by the European Commission. It will offer insight into how individuals and organisations can benefit from existing e-Leadership offerings and contribute to the development of new curricula.

Professor Liz Bacon, BCS President who will be speaking at the event said: “Research has confirmed a significant shortage of e-leadership skills across Europe. This event will focus on promoting professionalism in the IT industry as a means of driving capability for both individuals and organisations. It will also examine the importance of skills frameworks such as SFIA in defining professional roles and responsibilities within the industry.”

Liz continues: “There is a growing demand throughout European industry to improve the quality of e-leadership, which is needed to provide organisation leadership of ICT innovation to deliver business value.”

Although primarily targeted at innovative employers, CIOs and their associations, presentations will also be of interest to universities and business schools as well as to policy-makers interested in promoting innovation. The objective of the event is to gain a common understanding which will inform and encourage new e-leadership programme offerings.
