South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (SDHFT) and Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust (TSDHCT) have chosen an ED records system to align themselves with NHS’ paperless targets.
Both trusts handle well over 100,000 patients a year, so have awarded Ascribe the contract to supply their Unscheduled Care solution, “Ascribe Symphony”.
The trusts, covering 9 sites will be integrated into a single ‘joined up’ community clinical database, providing improvements in clinical safety; and support for safeguarding vulnerable patients that might present for care at different sites across both organisations.
The new solution will provide both organisations with real-time monitoring against national standards, enabling users to measure improvements against key performance standards, including full support for the A&E Clinical Quality Indicators, ultimately leading to benefits for patients.
For SDHFT, Dr Graham Gardner, Consultant in Emergency Medicine, noted “The Trust is making a significant change by implementing Symphony; we will be moving to electronic records for all patients within the emergency department to create opportunities to enhance patient care and management, including handovers to specialist services and our GP colleagues.”
