Steria will deliver the county council’s internal ICT services from 1st April. Savings will be made through a flexible way of working, in which the council only pays for the services it uses. In approaching the market Steria responded positively by offering greater flexibility in the way we use IT both now and in the future.
Staff working on site at the council for current provider, Capita, will transfer to Steria. They will also be supported by Steria staff off site, who can provide specialist expertise and additional resources if needed.
The new contract with Steria will enable us to drive down costs, by looking at how the council is using itsICT assets, including relocating our datacentre to a modern cloud based solution, reducing our network where possible and securing value for money from suppliers.
Under an innovative contract which will deliver savings in excess of 25% over current costs, whilst giving the council the flexibility to respond effectively to changing demands in future.
Cllr Ray Theodoulou, cabinet member for finance and change, said: “Gloucestershire County Council has been working hard to transform the way we work and make savings across the council. I’m confident we have in Steria a cost-effective, flexible, modern and reliable ICT provider with a track record of helping public sector organisations modernise their ways of working.”
