London boroughs launch joint e-procurement platform

Three London boroughs have adopted a shared network where suppliers can register and bid for contracts, in a move hoped to improve integration and  productivity.

The tri-borough partnership is between Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham council. It will create a shared space, to alert suppliers about potential contracts and when they are going out to tender, while firms will be able to monitor the progress of any bids they have made.

The site, called “capitalEsourcing”, signifies the steps councils are taking to improve procurement activities.

Anthony Oliver, CPO at Westminster City Council, said: “CapitalEsourcing has been developed by local government for local government. It standardises the way we do business, simplifies the engagement process and so will provide efficiencies for the tri-borough councils and their suppliers. We’ve already had other councils showing real interest in using the same system.”
