NHS England has selected Hadron 8020 on Microsoft’s SharePoint Online (part of Office 365) as their central business content, collaboration and communication solution for its 6,500 employees, enabling its workforce to collaborate virtually.
NHS England comprises around 6,500 staff in 60+ sites around England, with many of these working remotely or while mobile. As such the organisation recognised the considerable value in being able to access files and systems remotely, which includes their intranet and had already begun adoption of Microsoft SharePoint Online. Although this provides a powerful platform it was soon recognised that it is not a business solution out of the box and NHS England began a tender process to have a fully functional intranet implemented. Cloud2 successfully bid for and won the contract via a tendering process on the government’s G-Cloud framework.
The project has already been handed over to User Acceptance Testing, in a record breaking 6 weeks from first workshop. The new intranet, which includes team working areas, a central document centre, Project Management, Knowledge Centre and a sophisticated news and alerts system, will be launched to staff next month.
Working with the NHS England Brand and Values teams, Cloud2 has designed a clean, modern user interface using Hadron 8020 design elements around NHS England’s current brand, as well as providing a highly flexible news publication solution. This is in addition to the deep information architecture and features built into the market leading intranet solution.
Digital communications lead, Beth Johnson, said: “Office 365 will allow employees to collaborate and achieve their work tasks regardless of the platform, product or device. We will be able to benefit from the much more advanced technology platform that SharePoint Online and Office 365 offers, which will no doubt lead us to future improvements in content management and collaboration.”
