HP selected to provide IT products and services for Northern Ireland health trusts

The Business Services Organisation (BSO), which provides support services to health and social care trusts across Northern Ireland, has selected HP as the supplier for its Technology Partnership framework agreement. The four-year deal is worth around GBP 100 million.

HP will be responsible for providing IT products and services such as hardware, storage, network infrastructure, software, support, application development, service management and systems integration services.

Georgina O’Toole, director at TechMarketView, said: “HP has been investing in Northern Ireland over the last few years. Towards the end of 2012, for example, it announced investment in new office premises in Belfast city centre designed to strengthen its business in the region and facilitate the completion of its regional job creation project.”

She went on to say: “In addition, the company already works with health and social care organisations; under a GBP 66 million contract let in 2009 by NI’s Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety, HP has updated the technology behind the country’s hospital patient administration systems.”
