Digital transformational expertise to be shared at Socitm 2013

Socitm has assembled a range of digital and transformational expertise to share with delegates at its forthcoming annual conference in London.

Socitm, the association for IT and digital professionals working in local public services, has assembled a range of digital and transformational expertise to share with delegates at its forthcoming annual conference in London.

Government Digital Service Executive Director Mike Bracken will be drawing on lessons learned from the programme he is leading to digitise delivery by central government departments and agencies while digital change guru Catherine Howe will set out the differences between digital leadership and traditional leadership, and the challenges and opportunities that ‘digital’ presents to leaders across the public and third sectors.

Delegates particularly interested in the role of the council website within the digital landscape will be able to sample sessions in a parallel event presented by Socitm’s Website Performance service, a programme that collects and reports data about customer usage and satisfaction with council websites. The event will be sharing data, knowledge and best practice about website performance, ‘digital first’ approaches and channel shift.

The conference will close with an address from the Socitm President, Steve Halliday, Head of IT at Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. He will predict more major challenges for public and third sector IT communities in 2014 as a number of key programmes go live, including PSN2 and the Public Identity Assurance launch, alongside further growth in digital services and take up of agile development methods.

Socitm’s annual Awards Dinner, showcasing success stories in IT innovation, leadership and delivery across the public and third sectors, will be held on the evening of Monday 9 December.
