Foreign Office selects BAE to manage its global IT estate

BAE Systems Detica was selected as the preferred bidder back in March and now, under the new framework deal, the firm will be responsible for providing Service Management Integration (SMI) services across the department’s global IT estate.

The Foreign Office has selected BAE Systems Detica for a GBP 40 million deal to manage its global estate for five years. BAE Systems Detica was selected as the preferred bidder back in March and now, under the new framework deal, the firm will be responsible for providing Service Management Integration (SMI) services across the department’s global IT estate.

BAE will deliver the FCO’s end to end ICT services through managing its suppliers, including Vodafone and desktop supplier Computacentre. In addition, BAE will be responsible for delivering efficiency savings and improving the user experience.

The contract includes services for a global network of more than 260 FCO posts. It is hoped that the deal will enable the department to reduce UCT spend by as much as 40%. The framework will also be available to other government departments, in particular those departments which work closely with the FCO. Services are due to go line in spring of next year.
