West Midlands police force to deliver GBP 150 million ICT transformation

Home Office Minister Damian Green has has called for a technology revolution in the coming five years.

Home Office Minister Damian Green has recently claimed that centralised IT for police is set to be a thing of the past, and has called for a technology revolution in the coming five years.  Following this recent announcement, the Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands police force has unveiled plans for a new business and ICT change programme.

The West Midlands police force is seeking an ‘Innovation and Integration Partner’ (IIP) to help the force with its design and implementation of a ‘radical’ programme worth GBP 150 million over a five year period.

A team from the police force will be established to work in collaboration with the IIP in a bid to help “deliver better policing services to those that live and work in the West Midlands”. It is hoped that together, the teams will “design a new operating model, which will identify West Midlands Police’s capability requirements in its people, information, communications, customer relations, resources, business improvement and technology”.
