GDS launches website to track progress of 25 ‘exemplar’ digital services

Following the decision by Government Digital Services and Departmental Digital Strategies to redesign and rebuild 25 ‘exemplar’ transactional services, a website has been launched to track what progress is being made.

Following the decision by the Government Digital Service (GDS) and Departmental Digital Strategies to redesign and rebuild 25 ‘exemplar’ transactional services under the new digital strategy, a website has been launched to track “which transactions are in the programme, what progress is being made and the estimated scale of the digital service”. The aim is for all 25 services to meet the Digital By Default Service Standard by April 2014 and be completed by March 2015.

Services include redundancy payments, vehicle management and visit visa applications, amongst others.

According to Mike Bracken, executive director of GDS: “We’ve really focused on growing out the transformation programme of 25 exemplar projects. A lot of that has been done quietly and in departments, out of the gaze of the public eye… The spending round took more time than anyone could have guessed, but we’re though that and looking forward to our transformation of public services.”

A statement from the Cabinet Office said: “This is the start of a transformation that will mean people can interact with government in the same way they do with their bank or with retailers.”
