MoJ launches online tool for LPA applications

The Ministry of Justice has launched a new online tool that makes it easy for people to fill in the application for Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) with the hope that fewer mistakes will be made.

The Ministry of Justice has launched a new online tool that makes it easy for people to fill in the application for Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) with the hope that fewer mistakes will be made as in the past applications have been delayed due to confusing and time-consuming paper-based forms.

According to governmentcomputing.com, around one-fifth of applications sent to the Office of the Public Guardian contain mistakes and the government will soon launch a consultation on how to make the process fully digital. At the moment, they have to be printed out, signed and posted.

Alan Eccles, the Public Guardian, said: “This online tool is the first step in making the whole system simpler, clearer and faster. We are continually looking to identify further improvements and we will soon be consulting on a fully digital process for creating and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney.”
