Govt police website updated to enable public to help cut down crime

Police.uk has been updated with more data about crime and new categories such as bicycle theft, public order and possession of weapons with the aim of helping people better understand crime in their local areas.

Police.uk has been updated with more data about crime and new categories such as bicycle theft, public order and possession of weapons with the aim of helping people better understand crime in their areas so that they can challenge their local elected police and crime commissioners, thereby helping to prevent antisocial behaviour.

According to criminal justice minister Damian Green: “By continuing to make policing more accessible to the public through directly elected police and crime commissioners and crime mapping, the government is driving forward even greater transparency across the criminal justice system, reconnecting police with the communities that they serve.”
