Trafford Council and Age UK hold telecare event

A telecare event was hosted by the Trafford Council and Age UK Trafford to highlight the popular, highly-effective telecare alarm-linked and monitoring/response services and was deemed by the council as a huge success.

According to a press release, the event had free information, practical demonstrations of the equipment and the chance to talk through the variety of options available to help vulnerable people continue living independently in their own homes.

Executive Councillor Michael Young said that telecare was an important part of the council’s commitment to providing flexible, innovative care solutions to support local people: “This latest event gave us the chance to speak directly to people who were keen to find out how their lives or those of their family could benefit from Telecare. I was delighted to see so many people taking the time to find out more for themselves.”

As a result of partnerships the council has forged with Age UK, Trafford Housing Trust and LMCP Carelink, all local residents over the age of 80 can also take advantage of a one-year free trial of telecare equipment. The council hopes this will help show how the variety of items could help them remain living safely and reassured in their own homes.

Telecare is already providing 24-hour a day, 365 days a year tailored monitoring through a variety of products and services to over 1700 vulnerable people.

Whether at risk from falling, isolation, wandering away from home, hypothermia, bogus callers, forgetting to take medication or keep their homes secure, there is a piece of telecare equipment to support individuals, said the council.
