“Government Digital Strategy can operative effectively in a local government context”

In an interview with UK Authority, Geoff Connell, CIO of both Newham and Havering London boroughs, talks about the Government Digital Strategy in relation to local government.

According to him, although the strategy has been designed for the central government, “it can operative effectively in a local government context as well.”

A number of principles make sense to us, in terms of having a digital leader, doing channel shift in conjunction with process redesign and people change, all those things fit,” he said.

He also said that Newham, Havering and Waltham Forest are working together to have their websites interoperate with central government’s Identity Management framework.
