Office for National Statistics releases UK internet usage figures

The Office for National Statistics has released figures regarding UK citizens’ use of the internet called ‘Internet Access Quarterly Update, Q4 2012’.

Some key findings of the report include:

• 7.42 million adults in the UK (15%) have never used the Internet;
• Men (87%) were more likely to be Internet users than women (83%);
• London had the highest rate of Internet users (89%) while Northern Ireland the lowest (79%);
• Almost all 16 to 24 year-olds (99%) had used the Internet while only 31% of adults aged 75 years plus had done so;
• 3.80 million disabled adults have never used the internet.
