“Tailored information at fingertips”

Police.uk, created two years ago, has a new feature which allows people to create personalised crime maps whereby they can get crime information particular to the areas of their choosing.

According to criminal justice minister Damian Green, “Members of the public will have even more tailored information at their fingertips to hold their local police to account and ensure crime continues to be driven down.”

The website, which has had 548 million views since it was created, shows people street level data on crimes but some say that it has reduced the number of crimes being reported as people don’t want to reduce the value of their property.
