Councils should use social media not just during bad weather
Boosting morale of council staff

Helen Reynolds, digital and social media manager at Monmouthshire County Council, has written about how the council made use of social media, particularly during the snowy weather, adding that similar efforts should be made on a regular basis.

According to Reynolds, social media like Twitter, Facebook and even Pinterest Storify not only help to keep residents informed about cancelled events, school closures, traffic issues etc. but positive feedback received through these channels helps boost the morale of council staff.

Moreover, she says that “social media has given positive people who contribute and care about their communities a place to voice their views.”
