NHS Direct to provide online services, including a ‘click for nurse assessment’ service until March 2015

Enabling patients to obtain trusted health information online

The NHS Commissioning Board will be using NHS Direct to provide online services, including a ‘click for nurse assessment’ service until March 2015, to complement the locally commissioned NHS 111 urgent care service.

According to a spokesperson, the Board wants to provide services which will “enable patients to readily obtain trusted health information via the telephone, PC, tablet device or smart-phone and have the assurance of personal clinical expertise should they need it.”

The Board has set review dates for the commissioning of the services so that it “can ensure the online services offered to patients keep pace with their changing needs and aspirations.”
