Cornwall Council opts into joint venture with BT for telehealth hub following decision not to pursue extensive privatization campaign.
Cornwall Council is opting into a partnership with BT to outsource its IT and telehealth capability, reports ComputerWeekly.com. The move follows the council’s controversial decision in October not to fully privatise many of its services, contradicting executive’s privatisation plans. As a result, the council is entering into a joint venture with BT and various local health organisations to develop a telehealth hub which the council hopes will create a vibrant industry and bring jobs to the region.
“It’s not about privatisation. It’s about opting in, building Cornwall up, investing in people and holding jobs in Cornwall,” said independent cabinet minister Neil Burden.
