Leaders will be responsible for coming up with their department’s digital strategies

The government has revealed a list of digital leaders who will be responsible for coming up with their department’s digital strategies by December, and implementing them in the coming years.

According to Government Digital Service executive director Mike Bracken: “What we’re hoping to see in December is a much more improved level of ambition statement from departments and that gives us the next two years to go and execute on those transactions. But we will not succeed if the framework of our thinking is technology-led. We’ve got to think about how we change processes and culture.”

The Cabinet Office’s digital leader is Ed Welsh, while Philip Langsdale will be in charge of the Department for Work and Pensions. A full list of the digital leaders can be seen here.
