Head of major programmes at the Department for Work and Pensions Steve Dover has confirmed that the government will be announcing eight suppliers to provide identity assurance (IDA) to citizens when they access public services online.

The list of final suppliers will be announced in the coming days; it is expected the list will include BT, PayPal and the Post Office.
